Santana is an LP by Santana from 1969 released on the Columbia label.
About this album
Santana’s self-titled debut is a thrilling statement of intent, fusing Latin percussion, blues riffs and psychedelic rock into a sound that felt new in 1969. Led by Carlos Santana’s searing guitar and the driving rhythm work of Greg Rolie, Mike Carabello, Michael Shrieve and José Areas, the album built its reputation on force as much as invention. Its breakthrough single Evil Ways brought the band to a wider rock audience, while Soul Sacrifice became a defining live showcase after Woodstock. Widely regarded as one of the key fusion albums of its era, Santana established the band’s distinctive identity from the start.
