Santana – Borboletta (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1974

Borboletta is an LP by Santana from 1974 released on the CBS label.

About this album

Borboletta shows Santana pushing further into jazz-rock fusion without losing the Latin pulse that made the band distinctive. Issued in 1974, the album broadens the group’s sound with extended improvisation, Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz-funk grooves and more exploratory, spiritual moods. Its mix of original material and reworked Latin-tinged pieces reflects a period when Santana were moving beyond the tight, hit-driven format of their early years towards a looser, more ambitious ensemble approach. For listeners drawn to the band’s most adventurous work, Borboletta captures a key moment in their evolution, where rhythm, texture and improvisation take priority over straightforward rock structure.
