About this album

Mr Show-Business finds Sammy Davis Jr. fusing pop, jazz and Broadway polish into one of his most polished mid-1960s studio sets. Issued in 1965, the album draws on standards and contemporary material to underline his versatility as a singer who could move easily from elegant balladry to swing and lightly soulful phrasing. Davis was already a major entertainer across stage, screen and record, and this set reflects the show-business confidence that made him one of the era’s most recognisable performers. The result is a stylish snapshot of his wide-ranging appeal and his command of the American songbook.
