Run-DMC – Raising Hell

Run-D.M.C.'s Raising Hell is the 1986 third album that pushed hip-hop decisively into the pop mainstream. Produced by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin, it became the first rap album to go platinum and then multi-platinum, while its triple-platinum success proved that a hip-hop group could command a mass audience without softening its style. That wider breakthrough is tied closely to "Walk This Way," the Aerosmith collaboration with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry that turned rap-rock crossover into a commercial fact rather than a novelty.
