    Royal Headache’s self-titled debut EP is a fierce, hook-filled introduction to one of Australia’s most distinctive punk bands. Issued in 2011, it blended ragged garage rock energy with Shannon Cunningham’s soulful, wounded vocals, giving the songs an emotional pull that lifted them beyond standard revivalist fare. The band’s melodic instinct and loose, urgent playing made the record an instant calling card, helping build the cult reputation that would carry into their later full-length work.
