About this album

Smiley is a bright, melodically assured pop album from Ronnie Burns that reflects the easy confidence of late-1960s Australian vocal pop. Issued in 1969, it presents Burns as a warm, expressive singer working in a style that balances catchy mainstream writing with a more personal performance tone. The title song and the album’s blend of originals and well-chosen covers give it a snapshot feel of the era, when local artists were shaping pop with radio-friendly immediacy and a distinctly Australian perspective. For listeners drawn to period vocal pop, Smiley captures Burns at a commercially focused but characterful moment.
