Robert Wyatt – The Animals Film (E/E) – LP, UK 1982

The Animals Film is an LP by Robert Wyatt from 1982 released on the Rough Trade label.

About this album

The Animals Film is a haunting Robert Wyatt soundtrack that blends ambient drift, abstract textures and experimental electronics into one of his most singular early-’80s statements. Written for the documentary of the same name, the release distils Wyatt’s melancholy voice and distinctive sense of colour into a piece that feels both political and deeply personal. Its two-part structure gives the music room to unfold slowly, moving between atmosphere and unease rather than conventional song form. In Wyatt’s catalogue, it stands as a distinctive example of how soundtrack work could carry as much emotional weight as his best-known albums.
