Robert Palmer – Pride (VG+/VG) – LP, AU 1983

Pride is an LP by Robert Palmer from 1983 released on the Island Records label.

About this album

Pride shows Robert Palmer refining his sleek, style-conscious pop into a sharper synth-pop and funk-rock blend. Released in 1983, the album followed his early-80s rise and pushed further into the elegant, danceable sound that made him a distinctive chart presence. Its best-known moment is the driven cover of Patrice Rushen’s You Are In My System, while songs such as Deadline and Want You More underline Palmer’s knack for cool vocals, taut arrangements and polished momentum. The record helped set up the bigger mainstream breakthrough that would follow later in the decade.
