With "BRITPOP", Robbie Williams releases an energetic album that was conceived as a tribute to the British music scene of the 90s - the era in which he began his solo career after leaving Take That in 1995. The album includes the previously released song "Rocket", which features a striking guitar solo by rock legend Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) and provides a taste of the powerful sound of the entire album.
The cover of "BRITPOP" features a painting of Robbie's iconic 1995 Glastonbury outfit - a red tracksuit - and underlines the nostalgic reference to the Britpop era. Robbie describes the project as follows:
"I wanted to write the album I wanted to release straight after I left Take That - in the heyday of Britpop. It's raw, guitar-heavy and even more anthemic than usual. I've worked with some of my musical heroes. There's a lot of 'Brit' in it - and of course a lot of 'pop' too. I'm very proud of this album and I'm looking forward to sharing it with my fans."
