Richard Clapton – Dark Spaces (VG+/VG+) – LP, AU 1980

Dark Spaces is an LP by Richard Clapton from 1980 released on the Infinity label.

About this album

Dark Spaces finds Richard Clapton refining his Australian rock sound into polished pop-rock with a sharper, more urbane edge. Released in 1980, the album sits comfortably between radio-ready AOR and the streetwise songwriting that made Clapton one of the country’s most durable singer-songwriters. Its songs balance melodic hooks with reflective lyrics, shifting from the driving opener I Just Can’t Make It to the title track’s moodier introspection and the social snap of The Working Class Life. Recorded at the turn of the decade, Dark Spaces helped reinforce Clapton’s reputation for accessible, well-crafted rock that spoke to adult audiences without losing bite.
