The Game shows Queen sharpening their ambitious rock into a leaner, more commercial force without losing their flair for drama. Released in 1980, the album embraced disco, funk and rockabilly alongside arena-sized rock, with Queen themselves producing the record and expanding their reach far beyond the late-1970s hard-rock crowd. It delivered some of the band’s most enduring singles, including Another One Bites the Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love, while also topping charts in several countries and becoming one of Queen’s biggest international successes. Its blend of hooks, muscle and reinvention helped define the band’s early-80s peak.
