    This Is What You Want... This Is What You Get is a more direct and accessible Public Image Ltd statement, without losing the bite that made the group so distinctive. Released in 1984, it pushed John Lydon’s post-punk project towards sharper hooks, tighter structures and a cleaner new wave sound, while still keeping the tension and abrasion of the band’s earlier work. The album’s best-known cut, This Is Not a Love Song, became one of PiL’s signature songs and a striking example of how the group could turn pop form into something restless and confrontational. It remains a key record in the band’s evolution.
