Public Image Limited – The Greatest Hits, So Far (VG+/VG) – 2xLP, UK 1990

The Greatest Hits, So Far is an LP by Public Image Limited from 1990 released on the Virgin label.

About this album

The Greatest Hits, So Far is a strong overview of Public Image Limited’s volatile first decade, tracing the band’s move from confrontational post-punk into sharper, more melodic territory. Issued in 1990, the compilation pulls together defining singles and key album cuts, from the jagged early impact of Public Image and Death Disco to the breakthrough crossover of This Is Not a Love Song and Rise. It shows how John Lydon’s post-Sex Pistols project fused rock, dub, funk and experimental electronics into something unmistakably their own. As a snapshot of PiL’s shifting sound and influence, it remains an effective entry point to one of post-punk’s most restless bands.
