About this album
Sign “O” The Times is widely regarded as Prince’s masterpiece, a sprawling 1987 double album that distils his most daring writing and genre-blurring musicianship. After the dissolution of the Revolution, Prince largely played the instruments himself, shaping a record that moves from sharp funk and pop attack to tender ballads and surreal character sketches. The title track, “U Got The Look” and “If I Was Your Girlfriend” became key songs in his catalogue, while the album’s restless scope and emotional range confirmed his status as one of modern pop’s most inventive artists. Its critical acclaim has only grown over time.
