Pouya – The South Got Something to Say (2xLP)

Pouya's The South Got Something To Say arrived digitally in 2019 as his third studio album, and its title deliberately nods to André 3000's famous Source Awards declaration, placing Pouya in a wider Southern rap conversation rather than treating this as just another mixtape-era flex. The record catches the Miami artist at a real turning point: still rooted in Florida's hard-hitting bass pressure and rapid-fire delivery, but pushing further into themes of mortality, legacy, and the strain that comes with staying independent.

That tension gives the album its shape. Tracks such as Cruisin' in the MIA and Florida Thang keep Pouya's double-time attack front and centre, while Talk to Me Before I Die opens up a more vulnerable, reflective side. The result is a set that connects the raw momentum of his underground rise with more deliberate songwriting, without losing the blunt force that made his earlier work connect.

The guest list helps widen the album's range without pulling it off course. Juicy J, Ghostemane, City Morgue and Cuco all appear, alongside close collaborator Rocci, moving the sound between phonk-heavy aggression, dark atmospheres and more melodic, hazy passages. Just as importantly for collectors, this 2026 issue is the first time the album has been released on vinyl, finally giving a pivotal 2019 Pouya record a physical edition after years as a digital-only favorite.
