Open Up and Say... Ahh! is Poison at their most polished and commercially potent, turning the flamboyant energy of late-80s glam metal into a string of enduring rock hits. Released in 1988, the album pushed the band further into the mainstream with the brash anthem Nothin’ But a Good Time and the power ballad Every Rose Has Its Thorn, songs that became staples of hard rock radio and MTV. Balancing big hooks, sleazy swagger and hook-laden melodies, the record helped define Poison’s crossover appeal and remains one of the era’s most recognisable hair metal albums.
