    About this album

New Hope For The Wretched is the explosive debut that established Plasmatics as one of punk’s most notorious provocateurs. Released in 1980, it pairs blunt-force guitars and ragged momentum with Wendy O. Williams’ feral, confrontational delivery, turning songs like Butcher Baby and Monkey Suit into statements of intent rather than mere shock theatre. The album helped define the band’s blend of punk, hard rock and performance art, and its impact reached far beyond its initial underground audience. Raw, unpolished and defiantly anti-polished, it remains a key document of late-70s and early-80s punk extremity.
