About this album

Come On Pilgrim is the feral opening statement that announced Pixies as one of alternative rock’s most influential bands. Issued in 1987 as their first release, this mini-album distilled their early sound into a lean burst of jagged guitars, sudden dynamic shifts and Frank Black’s surreal, often unsettling imagery. Recorded from sessions that captured the band’s rawest instincts, it helped define the quiet-loud formula and off-kilter songcraft that would shape indie rock in the years ahead. Songs such as Caribou and Vamos show how the band fused punk bite with pop instinct, creating a debut that still sounds bracingly out of step with its time.
