About this album
Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon is a landmark of progressive rock, balancing conceptual ambition with some of the band’s most immediate writing. Released in 1973, it sharpened the group’s psychedelic roots into a polished, widescreen statement built around the pressure of modern life, from the pulse of Time to the emotional sweep of The Great Gig in the Sky and the closing unity of Eclipse. Produced by the band with engineer Alan Parsons, the album became a huge international success and spent years on the charts, helping define the scale and sophistication of 1970s rock while remaining one of the most enduring albums ever made.
