Pink Floyd – Animals (VG/VG+) – LP, US 2016

Animals is an LP by Pink Floyd from 2016 released on the Columbia label.

About this album

Animals is one of Pink Floyd’s most uncompromising and politically charged albums. Released in 1977, it turns the band’s progressive rock scale towards a bleak social allegory, dividing human behaviour into dogs, pigs and sheep. Built around David Gilmour’s sharp guitar work, Roger Waters’ dominant writing and the group’s stark, expansive arrangements, the record feels colder and more confrontational than their earlier radio hits. Its reputation has grown over time as a defining statement of mid-1970s rock disillusionment, with the long-form pieces Dogs, Pigs (Three Different Ones) and Sheep standing among the band’s most powerful work.
