About this album
Petula Clark Greats / Dusty Springfield Greats pairs two of British pop’s most distinctive voices in a smart 1982 compilation of signature singles. Petula Clark’s bright, urbane hitmaking and Dusty Springfield’s soulful, emotionally charged delivery helped define the sound of 1960s pop as it moved towards richer vocal and soul influences. Together, their best-known songs trace a run of evergreen favourites, from Downtown and I Know a Place to I Only Want To Be With You, You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me and Son Of A Preacher Man. The result is a concise reminder of how both singers crossed commercial appeal with lasting style.
