Pet Shop Boys – Please (VG/VG+) – LP, AU 1986

Please is an LP by Pet Shop Boys from 1986 released on the Parlophone label.

About this album

Please is the sharp, style-defining debut that established Pet Shop Boys as witty, sophisticated synth-pop auteurs. Released in 1986, it fused dancefloor pulse with dry social observation and crisp electronic arrangements, turning Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe’s detached sensibility into a pop strength. The album’s breakthrough came with West End Girls, a transatlantic chart-topper that helped define the duo’s cool, urban aesthetic, while songs such as Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots Of Money) and Suburbia broadened their reach. Produced with immaculate pop economy, Please became a key statement in 1980s electronic pop and the launchpad for one of Britain’s most successful songwriting partnerships.
