    Bright Size Life is a landmark debut from Pat Metheny, announced by a new kind of jazz guitar voice: lyrical, spacious and technically assured without losing warmth. Recorded in 1975 and released in 1976, the album paired Metheny with bassist Jaco Pastorius and drummer Bob Moses, a trio configuration that gave the music both freedom and clarity. Its blend of jazz, fusion and pastoral melody helped establish Metheny as one of the defining guitarists of his generation. The title track became especially influential, and the album’s long reputation reflects its role in widening the sound and audience of modern jazz.
