Wide Awake! is Parquet Courts at their most forceful and wide-ranging, sharpening their indie-rock attack into a set of songs that confront politics, consumer culture and modern anxiety with wit and drive. Released in 2018, the album was produced by Danger Mouse, whose polished but propulsive touch helped the band broaden their sound without losing its garage-rooted urgency. Lead single Total Football and the title track capture the record’s mix of chant-like hooks, jagged guitars and danceable momentum, while the album’s restless energy reflects a band fully in command of their voice. It became one of Parquet Courts’ most acclaimed and accessible releases.
