    Osibirock is a confident extension of Osibisa’s pioneering Afro-rock formula, blending Ghanaian rhythms, funk, jazz and hard-edged rock into one of the band’s most direct statements. Issued in 1974, it finds the group sharpening the interplay between percussion, brass and electric guitar while keeping the music celebratory and outward-looking. Rather than treating fusion as a studio exercise, Osibisa turned it into something physical and danceable, with tracks such as the title cut and ‘African Jive’ underlining their bright, cross-cultural energy. The album helped confirm Osibisa as one of the most distinctive forces in 1970s British African music.
