Ready To Die is the landmark debut that made Notorious B.I.G. a defining voice of 1990s hip hop. Released in 1994, it paired vivid street storytelling with sharp humour, cinematic detail and some of the era’s most memorable hooks, including Juicy and Big Poppa. Backed by heavyweight East Coast production rooted in boom bap and hardcore rap, the album turned Christopher Wallace’s rise and survival into a compelling coming-of-age narrative. Widely regarded as one of the great rap debuts, it helped cement Bad Boy’s ascent and Biggie’s place among the genre’s most influential artists.
