Will The Circle Be Unbroken is the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s landmark statement and one of the great bridge-building albums in American roots music. Released in 1972, it brought together the young California band with country and bluegrass veterans such as Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Mother Maybelle Carter and Merle Travis, creating a rare meeting point between generations. Recorded with a loose, communal feel, the album helped reintroduce classic country and folk traditions to a wider rock audience while also confirming the band’s own musical credibility. Its influence on Americana, country-rock and roots revival music has made it a touchstone release.
