Power, Corruption & Lies is an LP by New Order from 1983 released on the Base Record, Factory label.

About this album

Power, Corruption & Lies is the album where New Order fully turned post-punk uncertainty into a sleek, influential electronic sound. Released in 1983, it followed the band’s emergence from Joy Division’s aftermath and sharpened their identity with drum machines, sequencers and Bernard Sumner’s cool, melodic writing. Tracks such as Age of Consent and Your Silent Face show how the group fused emotional distance with real pop hook, while Leave Me Alone and 5 8 6 pushed dance music and guitar music closer together. Widely regarded as one of their defining records, it helped shape the sound of 1980s alternative and club culture alike.
