About this album
Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge is one of Mudhoney’s sharpest and most influential statements, turning grunge’s sludgy noise into something fast, funny and vicious. Issued in 1991, the album pushed the Seattle band’s garage-punk attack into fuller focus, with jagged riffs, Mark Arm’s sneering delivery and enough distortion to make the songs feel like controlled chaos. Arriving as alternative rock was breaking into the mainstream, it helped define the sound and attitude of early-90s grunge without sanding off the band’s abrasive edge. Its reputation has only grown as a touchstone for raw, unvarnished guitar rock.
