    About this album

Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live is a fierce late-period live album that reaffirmed Muddy Waters’ authority as one of blues’ great performers. Recorded in 1978 and released in 1979, it finds him backed by a younger, hard-driving band that gave classic material renewed bite and urgency. The set draws on signature songs such as "Mannish Boy" and "Baby Please Don't Go", but what matters most is the raw, commanding presence Waters brings to the stage. The album helped introduce his music to a new rock audience while reminding listeners that the Chicago blues tradition remained vital, electric and uncompromising.
