Juicy Fruit is an LP by Mtume from 1983 released on the Epic label.

About this album

Juicy Fruit is Mtume’s breakthrough funk-soul album, defined by its polished blend of post-disco rhythm, smooth vocals and lean, infectious songwriting. Released in 1983, it captured the group at a commercial peak and became best known for the title track, a major R&B hit that helped shape the sound of early-1980s urban radio. Built around tight basslines, electronic textures and James Mtume’s production sensibility, the album balances dancefloor energy with a cooler, more sophisticated edge. Its influence has endured through repeated sampling and its status as a landmark of glossy 1980s soul.
