Released in 1985, the album pushed the band beyond Los Angeles club notoriety and towards arena-scale success, helped by the huge crossover hit Home Sweet Home and a muscular cover of Smokin’ in the Boys Room. Produced by Tom Werman, it pairs slicker songwriting with the band’s raw attitude, making their sleaze, hooks and power-ballad instincts feel built for mass radio without losing bite. Its success helped cement Mötley Crüe as major heavy rock stars of the 1980s.
