Moses Yoofee Trio – MYT

"MYT" was produced by the band together with their longtime collaborator oh. no. ty as mixer. It contains thirteen tracks, including the first vocal version "Geern Light" featuring acclaimed London rapper ENNY, whose last EP "We Go Again" was released in 2023 on the FAMM label by Brit Award winner and Grammy nominee Jorja Alice Smith. The album will be available on vinyl and across all digital platforms, and a first taste will be released on October 18: "WHIP. wav", the original version of which was previously shared with great response on social media, is a perfect example of the band's unique, sophisticated jazz, whose relaxed summer grooves are illuminated by Moses' flowing piano lines, while drummer Noah Fürbringer's deft rhythms harmonize with Roman Klobe-Barangă's subtle bass line. At just 100 seconds long, the piece is as short and straightforward as the title of MYT - and many of its tracks - which reveals a lot about the Moses Yoofee Trio. The tracks on the new album demonstrate a remarkable determination to pare their work down to the essentials, allowing their prodigious talents and graceful versatility to flourish in an uncomplicated environment. Their aims, as they succinctly explain, are "emotions, moments and bangers", and care has been taken in the arrangements to ensure that there is nothing superfluous.

Before coming together as a band, all three members were already heavily involved in the music scene, touring, recording and producing for a variety of artists and bands. They met in 2020 when Moses met Roman at the Berlin Jazz Institute, who suggested they jam with his friend Noah, who was living in southern Germany at the time but frequently came to Berlin. Amidst the extended lockdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the trio seized the opportunity to fully engage in the creative process. Since then, the Moses Yoofee Trio has earned an exceptional reputation for its performances - recent highlights include a gig at the Elbjazz Festival at Hamburg Harbour in front of 2,500 people, an exuberant performance at the London Jazz Festival and an intimate gig in front of 200 people on the roof of an air traffic control tower at the now decommissioned Tempelhof Airport.

Despite their own work as a trio, all three musicians are also busy elsewhere. Moses, like Roman, often works with Berlin chart-topper Peter Fox, the frontman of reggae / dancehall / hip-hop crossover band SEEED, and accompanies him on his extensive solo tours. Noah, on the other hand, plays with another renowned artist, the German-American rapper Casper, as well as with the Swedish singer Petter Eldh and the German comedian, actor and musician Teddy Teclebrhan.
