    Tutu is a striking late-career Miles Davis album that modernised his sound for the 1980s. Released in 1986 and closely associated with bassist, composer and producer Marcus Miller, it blends electronic textures, jazz-funk rhythm and Davis’s lyrical trumpet into a lean, futuristic statement. Built around pieces such as the title track and “Tomaas”, the album helped reposition Davis for a new generation, showing that his music could evolve with contemporary studio techniques without losing its sense of authority. Its polished, socially aware edge made it one of his most distinctive post-1960s releases.
