    About this album

A landmark live Miles Davis set, At Plugged Nickel, Chicago Vol. 2 captures the Second Great Quintet in one of its most famous residencies. Recorded at the Plugged Nickel in Chicago in 1965 and issued in 1976, the performances show Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams dismantling familiar standards and rebuilding them in real time. The quartet's radical sense of interaction, especially on pieces such as 'Round About Midnight and All Blues, helped redefine post-bop improvisation. Widely regarded as essential listening, the Plugged Nickel recordings are a key document of Miles Davis's restless mid-1960s creativity.
