About this album

Living Years is the album that made Mike & The Mechanics more than a Genesis side project, balancing polished pop-rock with real emotional weight. Released in 1988, it built on the band’s knack for concise melodies and studio precision while reaching a much wider audience through the worldwide hit “The Living Years”, a reflective father-and-son ballad that became their signature song. The record also includes strong singles such as “Nobody’s Perfect” and “Nobody Knows”, helping establish the group as one of the most radio-friendly British rock acts of the late 1980s. Its crossover success gave the band lasting mainstream visibility.
