The Roaring Silence is the album that turned Manfred Mann’s Earth Band from cult progressive rock favourites into international chart contenders. Issued in 1976, it pairs the group’s muscular keyboard-led sound with a tighter, more radio-ready edge, most famously on ‘Blinded by the Light’, their breakthrough hit and one of the most recognisable rock singles of the decade. Built around strong songwriting, layered arrangements and Mick Rogers’ guitar work, the album also reflects the band’s knack for transforming source material into something distinctively their own.
