Keep Moving shows Madness widening their sound without losing the wit and melodic snap that made them a British pop force. Issued in 1984, the album arrived after the huge success of their early chart run and found the band leaning into sharper songwriting, more varied arrangements and a slightly darker mood. Michael Caine became one of their signature singles, while One Better Day and the title track underline the record’s mix of humour, melancholy and polish. It is widely regarded as one of the most interesting albums in Madness’s catalogue, bridging their ska roots and a more grown-up pop sensibility.
