Lonnie Liston Smith And The Cosmic Echoes – Visions Of A New World

Lonnie Liston Smith’s Visions Of A New World builds on the breakthrough of Expansions, refining his blend of jazz, funk and spiritual themes into a more fluid, focused set. While often linked to the electric explorations of Miles Davis, Smith’s approach leans warmer and more melodic, balancing acoustic textures with shimmering keys.

Opening with ‘A Chance For Peace’, a driving, club-ready groove that became one of his signature tracks, the album moves through a series of expansive, spiritually inclined compositions. The playing is tight yet unhurried, giving space for ideas to unfold.

Vocal contributions from Donald Smith and standout moments like Dave Hubbard’s ‘Devika (Goddess)’ add depth to a record that captures Smith’s cosmic jazz vision at its most assured.
