    About this album

A vivid companion to The Empire Strikes Back, this 1980 release turns the film’s story into a cinematic spoken-word adventure for children and Star Wars fans. Issued as a narrated sound recording rather than a conventional soundtrack, it combines dialogue, narration and music from the saga to retell Luke Skywalker’s journey in an accessible format. The format reflects the era’s appetite for story records that brought major films into the home, while also extending the franchise beyond the screen. As a release tied to one of the most successful science-fiction films ever made, it captures the cultural reach of Star Wars at its peak.
