About this album
Linda Ronstadt is a strong early showcase for her country-folk clarity and interpretive power. Issued in 1971, it finds her moving between contemporary California songwriters and older country material with a voice that is cool, direct and emotionally precise. The album includes her take on Jackson Browne’s Rock Me On the Water alongside songs such as I Fall to Pieces and I Still Miss Someone, revealing how she could make familiar material feel fresh without forcing it. As one of the albums that helped establish Ronstadt as a major figure in American roots-pop, it points towards the wider success and crossover appeal that followed.
