Lighthouse is an LP by Lighthouse from 1970 released on the RCA Victor label.
About this album
Lighthouse is a bold Canadian debut that fuses jazz-rock precision with the looseness of psychedelic rock. Formed in Toronto and released in 1969, the album introduced a large, horn-driven ensemble sound that set the band apart from standard rock outfits of the era. Its mix of tight arrangements, improvisation and extended group interplay made it one of the more distinctive crossover records of the period, while songs such as Eight Miles High showed the band’s ability to rework familiar material with force and imagination. The result is an ambitious first statement that helped define Lighthouse’s reputation as a serious progressive unit.
