KISS's Rock And Roll Over originally arrived in 1976 as the band's second studio album of that year, and this 50th anniversary edition returns to it through a new 2026 mix by original producer Eddie Kramer. After the more elaborate studio approach of Destroyer, the album was widely understood as a move back toward a tougher, more direct hard-rock sound, with Kramer once again at the controls. That shift matters: Rock And Roll Over is where KISS tightened the hooks without losing the punch.
The songs still do the heavy lifting. "Calling Dr. Love" became one of the album's signature singles, while "Hard Luck Woman" gave the record a more melodic counterweight, and "I Want You" has long held its place as a fan favourite. AllMusic describes the album as "one of Kiss' most consistent records," which gets at why this title remains such a dependable pick from the classic 70s run.
For this anniversary pressing, Kramer revisits the original analog multitrack tapes for a modern stereo remix, aiming to bring out more detail in the drums, guitars, and stacked vocals while keeping the character of the original performances intact. It also comes with newly reworked anniversary artwork in gold, red, and black, making this less a routine repress than a fresh presentation of one of the band's leanest and most hard-charging studio records.
