    (Music From) The Elder is Kiss’s most ambitious and divisive album, folding hard rock into art rock, prog and symphonic ideas on a tightly scripted concept record. Released in 1981, it marked a sharp turn from the band’s arena-rock formula, with songs such as The Oath, A World Without Heroes and Under the Rose giving the album a more theatrical, story-driven feel. The project was overseen by producer Bob Ezrin, whose dramatic approach pushed Kiss into grander, more experimental territory. Though initially polarising, the album has since become a key document of the band’s willingness to take risks beyond their best-known sound.
