Lick It Up is the album that reopened KISS’s story for the 1980s, marking their first release without the trademark makeup and a harder, leaner reset after a difficult period. Issued in 1983, it helped revive the band’s commercial momentum and introduced the unmasked image that would define much of their next chapter. Built around punchy hard rock and metal-leaning riffs, the record balances swagger with a more modern, radio-ready attack. The title track became the clear calling card, while songs such as All Hell’s Breakin’ Loose showed the band adapting their sound without losing their arena-sized identity.
