Kingfish is an LP by Kingfish from 1976 released on the United Artists Records label.
About this album
Kingfish’s 1976 debut is a relaxed but accomplished slice of folk and country rock, built on tasteful guitar work, supple harmonies and an unforced, road-worn feel. Formed around bassist Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, the band brought together players with deep roots in the Bay Area scene and a shared affection for American roots music. The album moves easily between loose, melodic originals and a few sharply chosen covers, with songs like Lazy Lightnin’ and Home To Dixie showing the group’s knack for blending jamming instincts with concise songwriting. It remains a rewarding example of mid-1970s rock that favours feel over flash.
