About this album
Fishing For Fishies is a sly, hook-heavy turn from King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, blending blues rock grit with their trademark psychedelic restlessness. Issued in 2019, the album showed the Melbourne band leaning into boogie, washboard shuffle and motorik groove while keeping the songwriting agile and wide-eyed. Built around the title track, “Boogieman Sam”, “Plastic Boogie” and the synth-led “Cyboogie”, it pairs humour and ecological unease with some of the group’s most immediate melodies. The result is one of their most accessible records, but still unmistakably odd, restless and inventive.
