Islands is an LP by King Crimson from 1977 released on the Polydor label.
About this album
Islands is a haunting and unusual King Crimson album, one that broadens the band’s prog language with chamber-like colour, jazz inflection and a more reflective mood. Issued in 1971, it captures a transitional line-up led by Robert Fripp and featuring Ian Wallace, Boz Burrell, Mel Collins and Jon Anderson on the title track, with extended pieces such as “Sailor’s Tale” and “Formentera Lady” showing the group’s range from stormy improvisation to elegiac lyricism. Often seen as one of the band’s more pastoral records, it stands apart from their heavier early work while helping define the more adventurous edge of progressive rock.
