About this album
In the Wake of Poseidon confirms King Crimson as one of progressive rock’s most ambitious early bands. Released in 1970, it followed the seismic success of In the Court of the Crimson King and extended that album’s dark, symphonic ideas with greater fragmentation and bite. Robert Fripp again steered the project, shaping a record that moves from the eerie title suite and the aching Cadence and Cascade to the jagged attack of Cat Food and the sprawling menace of The Devil’s Triangle. Often read as both continuation and reinvention, the album helped define Crimson’s restless approach to prog.
