About this album
Kev's Back (The Return Of The Yobbo) is the album that sharpened Kevin Bloody Wilson’s reputation for blunt, shameless Australian comedy. Released in 1986, it mixes folk-inflected melodies with rude punchlines and yobbo swagger, turning pub banter and cheap gags into a recognisable comic persona. Songs such as The Last Lager Waltz, Living Next Door To Alan and Hey Santa Claus show how Wilson used familiar tunes, wordplay and exaggerated taboo humour to build a cult following. It helped establish him as one of Australia’s most notorious comic entertainers, with a style that was deliberately offensive, hugely quotable and impossible to mistake for anyone else.
